I have always loved a good story. I grew up on Dr. Seuss, as many children of the 90s did. But I knew I had found something special in Roald Dahl and the magical worlds he created that were thrilling AND relatable. What a gift! It was the summer before fifth grade, and with all the time in the world, I read Matilda in three days. When I closed the book, it was the first time (though certainly not the last) that I felt sad about the characters not being real people in my life. So, I flipped the book over and started again - this time taking my time, noticing the details and delighting in Matilda’s victories.

As times change and humanity progresses, I hope that we will all find time to continue to play, dream, and imagine. I hope you find books to read again and again. And if you are so inclined, I hope you will also pick up your pen, and write.
